Easton has made reveal composite and started stamping there end caps where the cap meets the bat. Such as by sandpapering or applying a solvent to the surface such as fingernail polish remover or by any other means. With all that being said bat rolling is no different than a well broken in bat, so why spend days, weeks, or even months breaking in your bat when you can get it rolled? With such a drastic difference between new and broken in bats, you need to get your bat rolled or spend days breaking it in to level the playing field. Removing or replacing the plug or changed in any way other than factory repairs. One item that appears to keep coming up is the rolling of bats for quicker break in of the fibers. . Examples of altering a bat are, but not limited to the following: Painting a bat, replacing the handle or shaving the handle or barrel or the taper changed in any way. There is nothing specific about rolling but some could see this as a way to say it is illegal. Therefore, according to our rules, rolling of one’s bat is illegal and would make that bat an altered bat according to Rule 1 Altered Bat: When the physical structure of a legal softball bat has been changed”. I have personally known of bats that were sent to large bat companies for warranty which were rolled and not one was denied a replacement.
Rule 3 Equipment
“We have had several questions pertaining to bats and what is legally permissible to do to a bat. A bat would need to be cut long ways and scientifically examined to find a pattern of resin break down consistent with rolling; no association has that type of time or money. Unlike shaving or end loading a bat the effects of rolling are not easily detectable. There are those who maintain that rolling of one’s bat is perfectly legal. There has been one court case to date about altering bats but this was a shaved and a painted bat: “Oklahoma City, OK–The Amateur Softball Association (“ASA”) is pleased to report that the U.S. This would be the bat everyone seeks to obtain and thus sales go up. If it was increasing distance like shaving does I can see the argument of cheating but we are talking about apples and oranges. Associations are trying to level the playing field as best as possible with their resources. Bat companies are to blame, for the most part, because there is an unspoken competition as to whose bat can change in batted ball speed the most after being broken in. There have not been any landmark civil suit cases to date. Bats that are broken in by batting practice can be deemed illegal because they are over that limit and with that the owner is at risk being labeled a “cheater”. Association can suspend you if a bat is found to be altered but bat rolling is virtually impossible to detect, without a shadow of doubt. Had the knob removed/ replaced or changed in any way or had anything removed or added to the inside or outside of the bat other than the legal way to tape the bat the specified and appropriate place as described in the NSA Rule Book”. According to Rule 3 Section 7 NOTE: ‘The characteristics of any approved equipment can not be changed. It would be hard for a prosecutor to prove that a rolled bat is any hotter than a bat broken in by hitting baseballs or softballs repeatedly.
“An altered bat is considered altered when the physical structure of the legal bat has been changed in any way, or when an illegal or non approved bat has been made up in such a way as to appear to be a legal bat. This, I’m sure, has made a slight dent in altered bat use but without testing bats at the parks with a precise compression tester there is no end to bats going above the mph legal limit. Bat rolling simply speeds up the break in process with out any detection.
“Altered Bats – Excessive Pressure
Included in the USSSA view of what is an altered or doctored bat are any bats that are subjected to pressure
in any manner that exceeds that of striking the bat against an approved ball traveling at game like speeds. Bat rolling is a very hot topic among softball associations, players, and bat companies. The machine can tell if the bat is over the 98mph limit but it will not tell you by how much. This was not damages to a person but to the ASA organization and it was three years ago. Examples’. ASA has made such a machine but it is archaic at best. Again the same type of verbiage.
I will now go into what each association’s rules are in regards to rolling.
It is clear that all associations believe that altering a bat not allowed as spelled out by their rules but let’s clear the air; there is not any law that states a rolled bat is illegal. Only one bat company has made huge commitments to keeping altered bats off the field of play. They specifically mention bat rolling but as I stated earlier there is no way to detect rolling.
Such excess pressure would include, but is not limited to, any compression, rolling, placing in a vice,
hitting a stationary object such as a pole, etc”. District Court for Western Oklahoma has awarded ASA $100,000 in damages and attorney’s fees totaling approximately $12,000 against the first two defendants in the Association’s ongoing attempts to rid the game of softball of illegal equipment including painting and other techniques used to alter bats”
Proud parents everywhere enjoy watching their children learn and play the game. Basketball is a popular sport worldwide. It did not originate in the United States, but it has found its way into our sporting life and become one of the fastest growing sports. Baseball is one of the top sports being played in the United States. When you look at the citizens of the United States, there are several sports that seem to be much more popular than others. Football is truly the “American Sport”, since it is played in the United States exclusively. It has grown from being played only in college to having professional teams and being played by students in both elementary and high schools. The Super Bowl is one of the most watched television events when it comes to sports, and it determines which one of the many professional football teams will be considered the best for that year!. The number of people around the world playing basketball can reach a staggering 300 million! Basketball is one of the only professional sports in the United States to welcome foreign players onto teams, with many players of professional basketball being recruited from other countries and brought to the United States to play.
2. When it comes to sports, professional and amateur, baseball is ranked right up there at the top.
All around the globe, on any given day, you will find some sort of sports event on your local television station or on cable. What a great feeling when you see your child hit the ball or score a run! As the old song goes, “Take me out to the ball game!”. The most popular sports in the United States today, being watched live and on screens, are:
4. Football began as a college sport in the United States in the mid 1800s. Most ticket prices for local sports are reasonable and you and your whole family can enjoy the excitement of the game!
3. Having been played in the United States the longest, baseball attracts millions of fans to ball fields every year. Ice hockey is the most popular form of this sport, with street hockey being popular with older kids everywhere.
You may be asking “Where is golf and soccer on this list?” Well, although both sports are gaining in popularity, neither one meets the level of fans of the sports listed above.
1. There isn’t just professional baseball to keep many Americans busy, though. With networks dedicated solely to sports, you can find things like boxing, bowling, fishing, basketball, football, baseball and soccer on 24 hours a day! Most days you will be able to see sports live, either by watching pee-wee, high school, college and even professional sports events. They, of course, will cost you a bit more to attend, but the thrill of being there will make the price well worth it. Hockey is one of the newer sports gaining popularity with the American public
This tip involves looking for large gaps in the market, seeing where money has been taken (a feature of the betting software) and placing your bet accordingly. Now, this bettor who has placed the large bet, takes these back bets, lets it run for a little while, then places a series of large lay bets, forcing the price back out. This is when the action starts and liquidity markedly increases. Horse racing prices move where the money dictates. Similarly, if there is a large amount on the lay side, the price is likely to go out (get higher). This will cause a number of traders to pile in ahead of it (following the money), forcing the price down.
Just a few pre-tips beforehand: The best time to trade a race is around 10 minutes before the off. If you lose, don’t let it upset you, simply forget about it and move on to the next race…. And it’s tax free. Well, here are my top tips on how to “read” the pre-race horse racing markets and as such start to make a profit, while minimising the potential for losses.
3) Speculate On Large Price Movements. Simply take the loss and move on. This causes all the traders who got in thinking they could ride the back side to jump ship, forcing the price out even more as each one fights to minimise their loses. Now, I understand that many of you will ignore this. If you place a bet and the market moves against you, don’t hold on and on, hoping it will come back into profit, eventually letting the race start – you will end up losing a large chunk of cash. Certainly I got caught out a number of times when I first started.
For example, you see Horse A is trading at 7.0 on the lay side and 7.6 on the back side. I know I did, but it is a stupidly risky thing to do and should be avoided at all costs. If it gets taken, you then place a back bet at anywhere between 16 and 18, and if that gets taken you secure a nice profit. Indeed, how you take your losses – and there will be some – is just as important as making the wins count. Essentially, what you need to look out for are two empty price increments. Nonetheless, this is one of the more fullproof ways of making small, consistent profits.
Essentially what happens is a bettor on Betfair will place a large bet on one side of the book – let’s say it’s on the back side, as that is the usual scenario (although it does happen frequently both ways). This is more suited to Irish racing, where there is lower liquidity, meaning price movements are far more pronounced. This is where you place your bet – a lay stake at 13.0 to 13.5. Fact. The trick is to watch for the build up of these positions – comes with practise – and dip in ahead of them, then ride the price movement to a nice profit.
Alright, so you’ve got yourself a Betfair account, you’ve downloaded Bet Angel or Gruss as your betting interface, had a little dabble, but still aren’t sure what you need to be looking for in order to start making some money. Consistency is the key.
5) DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, LET YOUR BET GO IN-RUNNING. This can of course be repeated until the market catches up.
1) Follow The Money. You can also “feel” that the market isn’t moving as it should, as the back bets are often gobbled up faster than you would expect.
For instance, Horse A is running in the 5:10 at Galway. Its price is 12.0 on the lay side and 20.0 on the backside.
It’s worth pointing out that these types of bet can take some time to be filled, and practise is needed if the price starts bouncing around. This is much easier to do using the “Ladder” interface view on Gruss or Bet Angel.
4) Look Out For “Spoofers”. If there is a significant amount on the back side of the book, the price is going to ger shorter (get lower). It’s probably a good idea to trade horses with prices between 10.0 to 17.0 to start with, as at these levels the market is easier to “read”. Note also that making around £2 to £3 per race would give you a profit at the end of the day of around £50 – not bad for a few hours work. This is something to watch out for when following Tip 1 on this list. If the market does move against you it is still easy enough to close out for zero loss.
2) Look Out For “Gaps” In The Market.
With practise, this technique is relatively easy to spot, as spoofers tend to use far larger sums that is usual on Betfair. You notice that there have been a few nibbles at around 13.0. You now place bets at 7.2 and 7.4, meaning you in essence control both sides of the book and it’s very likely both sides will be taken, leaving you with a small profit. While not as useful a tool as it once was, exploiting “gaps” can still be a very profitable addition to any betting system
Before getting the real software, it is best to look at the free demo and try out their trial versions to ensure that the software is suitable to your needs and is truly reliable.
In Forex arbitrage, a trader basically buys a currency from one market and then sells it off at another. They work on real time and keep you accessible to the quotes of different currency pricings, there and then. It is also more accurate in its calculations than humans are. However, with the presence of the Forex arbitrage calculator, this problem can be overcome.
. The market in which it buys from will have a lower price quote of a currency than the market it sells to, allowing the trader to gain profit from the differences that occur between the two markets. The Forex arbitrage calculator can be widely found in the Internet and can be downloaded for free or a fee. The calculator basically helps to identify arbitrage opportunities through its calculations. However, one should understand that the difference is only temporary, as the market will need to correct its prices so that there is equality in prices of the currencies. The good thing with the Forex arbitrage calculator is that it can do what a human cannot do. This process, if done manually, will require time and patience, which means you may lose the opportunity if you are not quick enough. Thus, it is important for a trader to quickly detect such opportunities, make the necessary calculations, decide if the differences is worthwhile, and then trade. For traders who want to do well in Forex arbitrage, this calculator is an important tool to maximizing their gains. This correction can happen very quickly. In other words, in terms of the human problems with speed, efficiency, and accuracy, the calculator can overcome
Odds will be offered on the seventh “Survivor” but all bettors will be carefully monitored, BoDog President Rob Gillespie said in a statement.
“Only ‘The X-Files’ has more conspiracy theories than ‘Survivor,'” CBS spokesman Chris Ender said. Asked if BoDog might consider legal action, he replied: “It’s not something we’d want to pursue, as a matter of precedent.”
By Lynn Elber
Betting on events other than sports or racing is banned in Las Vegas sportsbooks, a spokeswoman for the Nevada Gaming Control Board said Thursday. The players in question opened accounts with BoDog before “Survivor: Marquesas,” the fourth show, and bet only on the show and no other events.
Callers to the Bodog.com offices were told that wagers were no longer being accepted on “Survivor.”
An online sportsbook said it has dropped betting on CBS’ “Survivor” after allegedly finding that network employees were wagering – and winning – on the hit reality show.
The Costa Rica-based BoDog.com found at least two CBS employees betting on the show’s outcome, said BoDog spokesman Lance Bradley. All Rights Reserved. One person was said by BoDog to work in a “production role” for CBS.
For the current “Survivor,” the bets in question affected the odds for contestants Jenna Morasca of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Matthew Von Ertfelda of Washington, D.C.
They wagered correctly on who would be the final two contestants in both the fourth and fifth editions of “Survivor,” Bradley said. He declined further comment on the allegations, or on any action CBS might take.
“We’re pretty sure this is the case,” Bradley said. Most offshore sportsbooks accept such alternative bets, said BoDog’s Bradley.
The show narrows the field to two finalists in filmed competitions. The suspicion is they had insider knowledge, he said.
The players’ current bets on “Survivor: Amazon” have been canceled and their money refunded, Bradley said. The winner is unknown until he or she is chosen in a vote by other contestants during a live broadcast.
“Throughout the history of ‘Survivor,’ many have believed they knew the outcome of the show,” Ender said.
. “Some have been right, many have been wrong.”
He wasn’t aware of any other possible legal sanctions.
BoDog requires that bettors must not have knowledge of an event’s outcome
He lies to his family and friends, borrows money, and loses control over his mind and behavior. When a gambler with severe ludo mania meets certain criteria, the condition is diagnosed as ‘clinical pathological gambling’. To experience the same excitement, he needs larger wagers or more frequent gambling.. Analysis of casino customer data may help identify problem gamblers, but casino owners do not share this data for fear of losing their most lucrative customers (may be 25 – 50%). Despite being aware of the serious negative consequences, or despite having a strong desire to quit, he cannot stop himself from gambling. Here are some useful tips regarding lifestyle changes to get rid of a gambling addiction.
‘Problem gambling’, also known as ‘ludo mania’, can destroy the life of the gambler and also of his/her family members. But studies show that suicide attempts are usually made by older people with problem gambling. Researchers have noticed increased rates of mental health disorders in gamblers with severe ludo mania. Study results show that a gambler who has not been treated for compulsive gambling during his desperation phase is likely to commit suicide. Gambling addiction is referred to as ‘compulsive gambling’ or ‘impulse-control disorder’, where the behavior of the gambler is similar to that of a person who has substance addiction.
When an individual realizes that gambling is destroying his family and social life, he thinks of quitting, but in just a few hours or within a couple of days, he is again found in a gaming zone or casino. Addiction to gambling at a young age increases the risk of suicide. He may lose his job and may commit crimes to get money for gambling. As he spends more gambling, he requires more money to recover his losses. There are chances that he has other psychiatric problems at the same time; for example, substance use disorder, mood and anxiety disorder, personality disorder, etc

“He is not jaded by teams and does not bet with his heart. Drinking and Gambling Don’t Mix – “There is a reason the casinos in Las Vegas supply you with free drinks while you are gambling,” Moseman says. “If you listen to their advice, you are sure to lose. These books change their numbers according to the betting patterns of their customers, so it is not entirely uncommon to find two or three point differences in the lines.”
But that doesn’t mean you have to bet like a “square” and throw away your hard-earned money.
Even Hollywood is not immune – think Two for the Money with Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey.
Also, it’s probably a good idea to disregard advice from the myriad of ex-players and football experts you see on television each week. “In trying to bamboozle potential customers, many services make claims about having scouts all over the country that give them inside information and promise 70 or even 80 percent winners, as if the bookmakers were the biggest suckers in the world. And why not? We have unconditional love for the sport and betting $50 or $100 on a game adds an extra rush of adrenaline. Not all games work according to this formula, but it is usually a good rule of thumb.”
“The standard bet requires gamblers to lay $11 for every $10 they want to win with the extra $1 or 10 percent known as the juice,” Konik says. He is not taken in by being involved in USC-Notre Dame just because it is the biggest watched game of the day. There is a wealth of information on the Internet; it is just up to you to find it and research it daily.”
And where does all that money go?
“There is probably no better bet in sports than playing an underdog at home,” Moseman says. He loses year after year, according to Dan Gordon, a top football handicapper and author of How to Beat the Sports Books (Cardoza Publishing 2005). “Most people prefer to bet on the ‘better’ team, the one that will probably win the game. The NFL, for example, will have very similar numbers at most of the betting shops you visit. The only locks that exist are those that need keys to open them.”
6. “If you become an expert on a smaller conference like the WAC, you have a good chance to beat the house because sports book operators do not have the time or resources to follow this conference the way you can. On college you will be able to find different lines at different sports books.
2. Focus on Conferences – “The best way to win money betting football is to develop a niche and follow it closely,” Moseman advises. Also, being “in action” can make a dull late-afternoon game (Buffalo vs. Research Football Services – “Most sports services realize that most people who sign up with them are insecure,” Gordon warns. “In the NFL, a game will often be totally turned around by one or two plays, or even a single penalty. “As for me, the best bet in football is betting the point spread or over/under totals on individual games. Bet at the Right Time – “The sharp bettors tend to bet underdogs, and they tend to bet them early,” Moseman says. Giving 11 to 10 odds is almost always the cheapest price you can give.”
And remember, in the immortal words of “Fast” Eddie Felson, “Money won is twice as sweet as money earned.”
4. To be a successful sports bettor you need to operate with a clear mind.”
Another difference between squares and sharps is how they approach betting on game day.
Ted Sevransky, a well-known Las Vegas gambler and sports consultant with Sportsmemo.com, agrees.
“The talking heads on TV know nothing about sports betting,” says Sevransky.
Newspapers and popular sports sites routinely publish the lines or point spreads for games, and football insiders offer their picks to viewers each week on ESPN and other cable networks. If you want advice about sports betting, find someone who has a successful track record. Thanks to the juice, the only one who profits in this scenario is the bookmaker. “Common wisdom says that over the course of a long football season the average man or woman will pick approximately 50 percent winners. “Teams play inspired ball at home. “The key to proper money management is to be sure not to bet more than you can afford to lose.”
Certainly not back into the pockets of the average bettor. Locks Don’t Exist – “Anyone who has watched sports for about a month realizes that the difference between winning and losing, especially against the spread, can be infinitesimally small,” Gordon says.
However, Konik adds that there are some bettors who actually know how to beat the bookies.
9. “Squares usually bet later in the week and they tend to pick the favorites. If you like an underdog, it is best to get your bet in as late as possible, where there is heavy action from squares on favorites.
Moseman agrees and especially likes home underdogs.
“The biggest mistake that amateur bettors make is they increase their bets when they are losing,” Sevransky says.
“Most people with an understanding of football gambling bet between 3 percent and 5 percent of their bankroll, increasing when they win and reducing when they lose,” Vaccaro says. “Because alcohol clouds your judgment and usually helps you to make rash decisions you usually wouldn’t otherwise make. Avoid Chasing Bets – “Don’t do it! There is no worse way to mismanage your bankroll than to chase your bets after a losing day,” cautions Moseman on the dangerous practice of trying to immediately win back your losses. “For example, if you have a $1,000 bankroll for the season, you should generally bet no more than $50 a game.”
3. Otherwise, you’re better off doing your own research.”
But even though the math says it’s virtually impossible to win on a consistent basis, Americans continue to bet on football. “Over the course of several seasons, the percentage of bettors who turn a profit is minuscule.”
“A sharp or smart has a plan of what he wants to do,” says Vaccaro, the director of sports operations and public relations at Lucky’s Race and Sports Book in Las Vegas.
“The bookies fear and despise a tiny coterie of professional bettors known as ‘the sharps,'” Konik says. Big underdogs often find ways to cover the spread and they rarely give up toward the end of a game in front of the home crowd.”
“A square is the average, unsophisticated gambler whose decision making is based on hunches, media manipulation, or spurious systems that cannot overcome the bookmaker’s inherent mathematical advantage,” Konik explains. But, when you’re struggling, that’s when you want to reduce your bet size until you get out of your slump. If North Texas is his best bet on a Saturday then that is his bet. Avoid Exotic Bets – “For very skilled handicappers, with a proven track record, there can, at least in theory, be value in betting parlays,” says Gordon on the type of bet that combines two or more individual wagers.
While these tips don’t guarantee you’re going to win, hopefully they can make you a little less square and a little more sharp in your picks this season. There are almost an infinite number of scenarios that can happen in a single football game. Shop For Numbers – “Another important aspect of betting on football is shopping for the best number,” Moseman explains.
Betting on football games; whether it’s through a local bookie, an offshore Internet site or a Nevada casino (still the only legal place in America to make football bets), most of us have done it or know of someone who has. If you are going to go with a favorite, it is best to place your bet early in the week when the sharps are laying heavy money on the points. So underdogs tend to be slightly undervalued – except by the sharps.” . The payout is just the same as far as he is concerned.
7. They use powerful computers that can process millions of bits of data and produce a more accurate point-spread line than the bookmakers.”
So, how much should you bet a game?
8. Money Management – “This is without a doubt the most important aspect of betting on sports and possibly the most neglected,” says Morey “Doc” Moseman, a professional gambler and sports consultant with DocSports.com for nearly 40 years. “Thus, the bookies love and cherish the squares.”
So, is it possible for the average square to become a little sharper in making football bets this season? According to professionals like Vacarro, Konik and Gordon, amateur bettors have the best chance to win if they demonstrate a little patience and follow the 10 basic tips below. Consider Underdogs – “In the long-run, it’s easier to win betting on the underdog,” Konik says. Oakland comes to mind) seem like the Super Bowl. In fact, sports bettors must pick 52.4 percent winners just to break even.”
Although exact figures are impossible to calculate, according to Jimmy Vaccaro, widely considered to be Las Vegas’ most influential bookmaker, Americans probably wager more than $50 billion a year on NFL and college football combined.
“A square or recreational player might have a vague plan, but after two Corona’s he will definitely run to the window and make a hasty decision on the USC-Notre Dame game because he wants to be involved in the party atmosphere,” Vaccaro says. “There will be more discrepancy in the numbers at different sports books. The only touts bettors should consider are the ones who talk about the long haul and realistic winning percentages, which are in the upper 50 percent to lower 60 percent range.”
Michael Konik, a sports writer and best-selling author of The Smart Money (Simon & Schuster 2006), explains why it is so hard for the recreational gambler to win at betting on football. Slim underdogs regularly win outright. “The sharps are usually members of a betting syndicate privy to the most up-to-date information on injuries, weather, game plans, and, most important, the real power of the teams involved. Chasing losses is the fastest way to the poor house.”
So, how much are we gambling each football season?
“In an average season, fewer than one bettor in twelve turns a profit,” Gordon says. “When you’re in a good rhythm and winning, you want to increase your bets
